about

Hello!

Hi, my name is Aoife Downey and I'm a Performance Coach. My job involves me working closely with athletes, coaches, and sports professionals to help them reach their full potential by tapping into their mental skills. I firmly believe that having a trained mind as well as a trained body is the difference between good athletes and top athletes!
I am an avid runner and have recently taken up cycling, so I completely relate to athletes starting out on their journey, as well as being aware of the challenges faced throughout the journey. My aim is to help you get to the top of your game, while either reigniting or strengthening your love of the sport. I'm also passionate about Mindfulness, and practice both Yoga & Pilates. I endeavour to make you a bit more mindful and help you remain in the present moment while excelling in your sport.
I obtained a BSc in Psychology from Queen's University, Belfast and from there, went on to complete my MSc in Sport & Exercise Psychology from Ulster University. I believe that my role is to make myself redundant, by providing you with the toolkit and instructions on how to use your mental skills to optimise your performance, and therefore your overall sporting performance.
Mental skills training allows you to achieve peak performance while remaining calm and focused, regardless of what your sport throws at you, while allowing you to gain control through accountability,
